jeez, 8 whole mega pixels??? Wow fruit, welcome to you sure are being generous here. My android phone has 8mp and it came a full year ago... The pictures it takes are pretty sweet compared to my friends i(paidtomuch)phone4. I'm not trying to bash anyone but I see a lot of fruit boys on here saying they are OK with whatever fruity says. Ya'll really need to revolt or something because that's not right. I guess once the specs are finalized, we will see a 10+ mega pixel camera on either android or windows phone? I have no idea..
I will suggest that perhaps a physical side camera button like the Windows phone has for taking pictures would great because with a touchscreen it is hard to tell if you took a picture in a noisy environment when you can hear the click.
That is all.
PCP
What are you bragging about? Nokia already has smartphones with much higher megapixel cameras than your android phone. BTW, if you really owned an android phone why can't you say who made it? Are all android phones the same like robots?

I finally got through on the phone after waiting 45 minutes on hold.
On a side note, is this the same battery they're recalling (and still selling)?

I totally agree. However, the 4.x was sold as a viable update to my phone, and my older iPod Touch was upgraded automatically. Had I known it would have rendered them quite useless, I would have not agreed to the upgrade. Also, there is no way (that I can tell) to downgrade to a previous IOS (I'm not overly geeky). I am not asking for on-going support, rather that the phone that I paid for works for its lifetime. It is Apple's fault for not providing a reasonable explanation of what the consequences would be or providing an alternative to that IOS.
I agree that they should not deliver an update that makes older phones nearly unusable. There is not much point to doing this. My alternative to this would be that Apple cuts off the older phones from support and updates sooner than they currently do if the hardware can't handle it. The 3G was almost outdated as soon as it shipped, since the software and hardware didn't match up very well.
I think the key point of contention is, what does "for it's lifetime" mean? For a MacBook, it is several years. But for a phone, it is much shorter. I still have an old Nokia 6120 that I bought in 1999, and it still is "alive". But I don't expect Nokia to keep issuing updates for it. Of course if they did, I would hope that it didn't completely kill the phone off.
As for downgrading your OS, I am not a hacker or jailbreaker, but I am fairly sure that if you dive into it a bit you can find a way to downgrade to an earlier and more useful iOS.

I find it weird that you get a remote control and front row...Many people buying Mac Pros are getting them as their home computer, and it's pretty lame that you drop extra money on the high end and can't do some of the really cool things that can be done on a lower end model.
Hi,
You've raised some good points.
However, many of the people buying Mac Pros are in the creative services industry (film, graphic design, audio engineering). I don't know how processor hungry remote control and front row are, but I do know these users require the most power out of their machines.
Having said that, with ever faster machines, I see no reason for them not to include these two programs in the "complete Leopard package" in 2007 for all Macs sold.
My 2 cents worth. ;)

Oh please!
Apples exists to compete with PCs and one of, if not THE major element of that is having the best/fastest hardware! If Apple didn't want to compete with PCs, then they wouldn't make so much out of the MGz myth and say that "Apple Mac X will outperform Wintel X, even with two thirds of the processor speed!".
Apple needs to do something fast, beause virtually forcing schools across America to take on Macs and whining that Microsoft are big bullies isn't going to help them.
Sorry, i'm being a bit extreme, but i wish Apple would hurry up and do something.
PCs are the competition and releasing an update of a product every six months, while the competition is constantly updating, isn't going to work for them for much longer.

That's the only way Apple is going to succeed as a company.
Agreed! And one of the reasons Apple isn't working fast enough is because you're all so busy kissing their @ss! Start a petition (http://www.petitiononline.com), write an email, send a fax or even write a letter telling Apple to release the latest batch of Hardware and then get on with moving this company forward.
You guys seem to spend so much time talking, but you take no action!

Sad part is, as adoption increases...so will viruses/malware/trojans/etc.
Best analogy Ive heard is:
Windows 7 is a house with bars on the windows, and industrial locks on the doors...in Baltimore.
OSX is a house with no locks, in the middle of nowhere.
We've been hearing this since 2002 or so.
Where's all the malware? It's 2011 and we have zero viruses and like 2 trojans. Adoption is increasing but malware is not.
BUT . . . I do like your analogy. :)

Look! Up in the sky!
Is it a bird?
It's a plane!
No! It's an partially eaten flying apple!
It's landing!
[time passes]
Something's coming out of it!
[gasps and screams of anticipation]
IT'S SUPERMAN!
OMG! He must be using the new iFly! What's that, Superman? It flies better than you?
[Superman smiles and winks, and flies off, presumably to fight crime, but actually to go find Lois]
Introducing the new Apple iFly. Better than Superman.
Wow! I want to fly it over the Atlantic ocean!
Look everyone! An Apple PR rep just stepped out of the iFly! What's that Apple PR rep? It can't fly above water yet? It's a bug that's going to be fixed in a software update?
And you can fill it's 32GB of storage by syncing with iTunes on your Mac or PC? Wow!
Everyone swarm the iFly!
[riot ensues]

It's really amazing to see here people justifying the price of Windows Vista, when not even corporations think about migrating to the "new" OS in 2-years time...Vista is just a rehashed NT, and no company will need it in the short term.

USB will be obsolete by then, nobody can verify whether the iPod is still working or not.
Btw, have you checked the prices of 8" floppy disks lately? The single-density ones.
Time to buy an ipod, leave it in the box, then sell it in 30 years for $10,000? Try get Jobs to sign it first! How about $100,000?
And the first ipod had firewire?!?!?! What is this! We've downgraded!

Welcome to the state of marriage these days. Thanks to the laws, they can usually take at least half, and maybe more in divorce... Is an iPad 2 going to directly cause that? Doubtful, but it could be one more straw so to speak...
I was there with the iPhone 3G. I was sick and tired of the crappy phone I had and the crappy relationship I had with my wife. I said, "F it!" and purchased the iPhone3G. She bitched and complained. I handed her divorce papers and said I wasn't going to take her crap anymore.
Fast forward a few years; we are still together, never divorced and things have never been happier. It was a big wakeup call for her.
If I truly wanted / needed and iPad, I'd have one. But as it is, I can't justify it to myself; I always have my laptop with me, so why do I need the iPad?

Actually, I like the tree. And yet I totally know what you mean by not wanting it in the shot.

Hence the desire for Apple to pull an iPod on the market.

I don't think Wal-Mart makes money on a lot of their DVDs. They sell them at a loss to get people in their stores. If people buy on iTunes, they don't come into Wal-Mart.
15+ dollars for a 15 cent disc with 45 cents in packaging around it shipped for about 95 cents. Walmart is making plenty. Wholesale for new DVDs is about 7 dollars less distribution costs (typically less than a dollar a disc). Older movies I have seen go for as little as 2$ wholesale.

650 MB download to update my 4G iPod touch.
607 MB download to update my iPad 2.
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, in my humble opinion. http://www.en.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/negative.gif
Why can't Apple design their updates so you no longer need to essentially download the whole iOS code? Even Microsoft in their Service Packs for Windows XP/Vista/7 "polls" the system to determine the actual Service Pack download size, so in many cases the download is actually quite small. Of course, I'd like to see Apple allow for incremental updates like how Google does it with the Chrome web browser--done in the background and unobtrusively.

I wonder how many other people will try this if they have "buyers remorse" and return an iPad?
Cool gesture on Apple's part.

Jumping on the wild guesses her ;)
Anyone thought about airpollution yet?! Lower CO2 emmisions from production? :P
Apple's earlier been critizised for not being "environmental enough" in their production right?
Anyway, just a thought, hehe
I think you might be on the right track. And I think there will be some announcement about further environmental goals for the company.
Maybe the thinner font is a symbol of "reduced impact" or footprint of the company as a whole.
Since the MacPro and XServe are by far the most power hungry Apples, maybe that's the real reason they were soft launched a week early?
Don't forget all those saved trips to Blockbuster now with movie rental on iTunes! I'm sure Apple will calculate average carbon emissions of a trip to Blockbuster. :)
