Shrug, I kind of agree with the other poster - I'm more productive working on a Windows machine, as there are less distractions. When it comes to digital media, however, Apple's the way to go.
I'm also to the point of getting a MacBook for my next computer so I can bring it to work... I am SO much more efficient on my Mac than on my work PC. It's mostly due to expose, spotlight, and the dashboard.
I work with about 4 or 5 applications all day everyday, and with expose I can switch between them quicker and more accurately, allowing me to get a better work flow going. Spotlight should be obvious; I deal with roughly 200-250 database reports regularly, but I can never find the one I want. Same for emails (during my busy time of year it's about 20 a day I have to respond to, I'm down to 5 or so now, though). Dashboard is purely for slacking off - but I can do it faster and 'waste' less time checking my email, the top stories on digg, etc.
If there was a slick docking station for the MacBook I'd have one (and two docks) for it already... I suppose the PITA connecting OS X to our domain server is also stopping me. And the fact that (I don't think) our database frontend has an OS X version ready just yet.

You are limited by the focal length, which is dictated by the thickness of the device. There is no magic way around this.
Which is probably what they thought when they were designing the first SLRs.
Until someone had the brainwave of sticking in an extra lens element to accommodate the mirror.

I'm pretty sure that Apple cares (at least to the degree that they want you to have enough reasons to buy), and I think the issue is mainly with Motorola.
However, I don't think any of us could honestly say whether it's because Motorola can't, or simply won't, put out the speeds and volumes that Apple would like. The G4 is indeed clock-limited (the higher the number of pipelines, the harder it is to speed them up); at the same time, they've gradually been disinterested in the CPU market. Their financial situation hasn't helped either.
It's difficult for me to blame IBM; yes, for the longest time they've been reluctant to include vector multimedia extensions (i.e. VMX, or something eerily similiar to Altivec) in a desktop-oriented PPC, but there hasn't been much doubt as to their capabilities for manufacturing. They said last year that they could get the G3 (in the 750FX version) up to 1 GHz, and they presumably didn't simply because it would have killed incentives to get the Powerbook. A lot of the speculation about the flat-panel iMac in late 2001 was that the iMac would have a 1 GHz G3 processor.
Now that IBM seems to be including VMX in their desktop Power4 variant, I wouldn't be surprised if IBM gladly stepped in and gave the lineup a good kickstart.

are you people making this all this fuss over C2D MB's coming out? or is there more expected from the update....like the true ipod video? i dont see how a C2D MB could bring so much excitement....there's not THAT much difference in performance.
There might be a few more surprises with the MB as well, like there was with the MBP.

Hence the name of this site: Mac Rumors.
I'll give you that not all the rumors or speculations here are "educated," but if I were to make a price bracket sheet I'd put $29 losing out in the first round and $129 in the Final Four.
Maybe the poster is talking about the family-pack.
Depending on how many in your family it's close to $ 29:-)

This news is sick! In just 12 hours? DAMN!
I would buy the no new iPhone rumor because OS X Lion is gonna be a game changer from what I've been reading, so they will need to focus and give a 100% to Lion. However, that doesn't mean they won't preview iOS 5, for a fall release :)
if they preview iOS 5 for a fall release. can we safely assume that the iphone 5 will be released along with it?

I'm sure some of them have, sorta how some of the Libyan people have.
Side note:
I'm seriously worried what will become of the power vacuum when Qaddafi leaves. To think the rebel forces are somehow an actual organized group is absurd. The only thing unifying many of these people is the will to see Qaddafi fall. After that there will be a mad struggle for power, most likely in conjunction with half assed elections.
This whole Libya situation is going to blow up in the not too distant future. I forsee the civil war shifting after Qaddafi leaves into the rebel forces fighting amongst themselves.
I shudder to think what is going to happen if we arm them, hopefully Obama wasn't just talking out of his ass when he said we actually need to learn from history for once. Our country's cycle of support>arm>aid>turn against>support new group needs to stop, as it is directly responsible for much of the instability we've seen in the world over the last 20+ years. We create our own enemies to fight after they no longer serve our interests.
I've been unable to get a good grasp on what percentage of Libyans are against Qaddafi. The impression that I'm getting is that the majority (maybe a large majority) of the country really wants him out (though impressions can be very misleading).
Which in my eyes means the majority of Libya's citizenry is at risk of being out right massacred mainly because Qaddafi has the money to buy guns and soldiers.
Your concerns about a power vacuum and inter tribal fighting are certainly justified though :(.

Oh come on. How often do we actually have to access our optical drives? While you may do so often, many of us almost never do and would be happy to attach an external drive every now and then or even access the disc we need over the network.
The optical drive in my laptop broke a few months ago. I haven't missed it much. The one time I did need it, I hooked up my external drive, so it is necessary to have one.

I'm guessing he got the MBP before the iPad. And, the 13 inch MBP can do a lot more than an iPad, while being more portable than the 15".
Oh of course, still seems a little redundant though.

Aas for the UI, that's the easiest thing in the world to implement at the last minute. it would be dumb from a marketing stand point to release that now 9 months or so prior to leopard's release. right now microsoft has caught up in many ways to the aqua look and feel (okay will catch up), while i don't think microsoft has the kind of time to implement GUI ideas in to vista, the general public are easily distracted. release the GUI now then tell them not for 9 months and they're going to get bored with it. when leopard ships the GUI will have a "been there, done that" feel about it. now announce it at MWSF '07 and tell everyone you're shipping in april, now you're on. you scuttle vista by showing off a UI that is different, and hopefully superior to vista's rip off of aqua and you have a better chance of maintaining interest.
I agree 100% with your assessment. I am certain that Apple will be modifying the Finder in the final release of Leopard (They have in every other major OS X release), and I fully expect to see that at a major demo at MWSF 07. I feel that's really where we're going to see Leopard, and hopefully by then, Vista will have gone GM, but who knows...

I believe Costco showed Apple the door.
This is also what I took from it.
It also happens to make more sense than apple showing them the door.
They probably were unable to secure the kind of discounted prices WITH acceptable profit margins to justify the retail space.

I'm not a big Halo fan (Well, I used to love Halo, but I haven't brought any games since Halo 2), so I probably won't be getting this unless it's for christmas or something. Will be sticking with COD: Black Ops.
Probably my most favorite screenshot is:

There's no use whining. It makes our community look bad and doesn't do anything positive. These things happen and vulnerabilities exist. Its not about who's driver it is or if its part of the OS. Its about how quickly Apple responds, how they respond, and the vulnerability being fixed.

It was all smooth sailing til tonight and my Macbook had a random shut down. I've had the firmware upgrade since the day it came out. I noticed this time I couldn't just try to power back up by pressing the power button. I had to either take out the battery and put it back in or plug it up to external power for atleast the start up.
Bleh, I was so relived that I wouldn't have to send it in with the firmware thingy, so much for that. :(
So everyone elses are doing fine?

"What?? They released them already?? But I just bought...GAH!!!!!"- C.M.Sevilla
I AM SO CLOSE TO THAT LINE!!!!
In fact I just called the store and said to them; "Uh, what's wrong with this picture, I paid more for an outdated Macbook and I still haven't received it"...
So he said that he'll cancel the original order and place a new one.
See, I even added an extra 512MB RAM to the original order cause I had to have it with at least 1GB of ram. Glad to see it is now included in the in-store versions.
But it was terribly close, cause they promised me the MacBook for this week and since it still didn't show up, I was getting suspicious. I guess I was right, they did release new MacBooks. I just didn't expect it...
In any event, all is well, and they will reorder the MacBook with Core2Duo and it might take longer but I'll save some money and I'll get a better machine that is BRAND new...
So that's my story to share on a "How close were you to buy an old mac Today" story...
Have fun guys... and if I get it soon, I'll let you know just how well it performs and if Rosetta is still a drag... "it probably is..." but at least I'll be able to use Aperture without a problem on it...

Is it just me, or does the new iTunes logo look horrible in the dock? It doesnt seem to match anything, and it just doesnt look as "clean" as the typical dock logos have been/should be. When i went to click iTunes for the first time and it changed from the nice/clean green logo to this blue cheesy looking 1995 icon, I was pretty surprised!
it doesn't look right to me. The icon seems HUGE, it seems like the used every single pixel available to them while other icons were allowed to breathe.
Check it..

Android Phone Specs are out pacing the Iphone. An 8 Megapixel camera, bigger screen and more memory will keep me buying. IOS 5 with the rumored adobe flash would be great too.
Except the 8mp on every single Andriod phone I've seen produces significantly worse images than the iPhone. ESPECIALLY in low light.
