I think the main thing that discourages people from buying a ZUNE is the Zune...
anyway if this Beatles thing works with Apple, it will most likely be a limited time excklusivity 6 months to one year tops and then open to other online sellers.
Yes. Apple could give away The Beatles songs (i.e. take no money themselves) and STILL win because every Beatles song sold via iTunes is a song that (a) isn't sold from another store, thus depriving others from that revenue and (b) isn't usable on other players, without a process that is too involved for Joe Public.
Not to mention the HUGE optics of getting The Beatles who, like it or not, are the biggest act in pop music history. Even if the exclusivity contract was 1 year, that takes the wind out of others sails (pun intended), and provides the public a year to stock their playlists with Apple-branded Beatles tunes, after which the momentum is gone and sales via other online outlets is minimal.
This would be a BIG win for Apple.

i have a week 26 white 2.0 MB. it has a screw on the bottom in the dead center. it was never serviced.
Dunno what week it is, but I got it in October. I got screwed too, right in the middle right out of the box. Hasn't been serviced. As I said though, it was nice and quiet before the firmware update...
Can anyone show a pic of a MB without the center screw? lol

I'm afraid you people don't get it. It isn't about Bach vs Beatles, it's about me being right, and you being wrong. :D:D Anyway...

Oh come on. How often do we actually have to access our optical drives? While you may do so often, many of us almost never do and would be happy to attach an external drive every now and then or even access the disc we need over the network.
The optical drive in my laptop broke a few months ago. I haven't missed it much. The one time I did need it, I hooked up my external drive, so it is necessary to have one.

I speak with facts. Hardware is facts.
Except you've brought no facts to life. I'm still waiting on that citation that proves Apple uses ASUS boards...

Steve looks unhealthy. He's not as sharp as he used to be. His keynotes were flawless. He stuttered several times, forgot what he was saying in mid sentence, and handed a considerable amount of the keynote to other people. Steve was a control freak in past WWDC keynotes.
I think he may be in not-so-good health. But I've said that before.
He was probably up all night worried about how Apple has to restate their earnings. And Stevo is a big part of the SEC's probe.

Lump me in with the crowd that is still hanging on to the iPod classic! I really don't want to see it go anywhere - I like being able to carry my entire library with me, movies and all.

We heard something really similar to that when every other company released video-playing mp3 players before Apple did, and Jobs said he didn't see anybody wanting to have portable video. Well, Apple bit its tongue and released it, calling it "innovation".
I'm a big iPod fan (i've purchased 3) but wireless capabilities is the way of the future. I don't see ourselves in 10 years still being limited by wired headphones and such. Maybe it'll be easier than the Zune (haven't seen the demo) but the idea of beaming a song for somebody else to download/hear is pretty cool to me.
I agree. But, I don't think the "social networking" aspect will fly, when combined with a restrictive DRM scheme. I too like the idea of being able to sample a friend's musical library, but there is too much fine print with the Zune implementation. As for the specific "it will get you dates" selling point, as Steve said, that's pure crap.
IMHO, Steve is really good at deconstructing the bad approaches to cool technology others promote. As with video, prior to the iPod with video (and even after) I saw several ads showing people out on a busy city street watching videos on their no-name video player. It was, and continues to be, a stupid idea for a way to use a portable video device, yet since that's what's being marketed it gives Steve a nice target for mockery.

And you and people like you represent how much of the population?
What's that got to do with your absurd and paper-thin point? That Macs weren't for work? I represent no-one except myself and never claimed to...
Besides, since when did a majority choice signify anything of value? More people drink Coke instead of Champagne. More drive Fords than BMWs. More like 50 Cent than Mozart...
When billion-dollar publishing and media concerns depend on their Macs, in my view that trumps anybody at home playing Solitaire on their Windows boxes.

They banned songs like Lucy in the Sky and Ticket to Ride... (not to mention Metallica's Seek and Destroy) because the songs reminded people of the event.
I worked in radio at the time. That list was fake.

Dunno why peeps call grenade launchers and powerful combos "noob". It's a good strategy, then use it.
No one is saying it makes you a noob. It comes from the old Halo days. The old "Noob Toob" was the Halo 2 rocket launcher, because it had lock-on for everything. Which sucked, and basically took all the skill out of using it. In Reach, the Rocket Launcher only locks onto airborne vehicles, and even then, you can evade them if you pilot them well.
And the "Noob Combo" was referred to that not because it made you a noob, but because it was soooo easy to kill them with it. Run around with the Plasma Pistol charged up, blast someone to drop their shields, quickly switch to the BR, and boom, headshot and done. Now there are a couple ways to pull this off. Either an Overcharge shot from the Plasma Pistol, or a Delay Shot from the Grenade Launcher will EMP your target, leaving them open to a quick and easy one-shot headshot.
But again, as I said earlier, getting your hands on a headshot-capable weapon is not that easy in Reach campaign, so you have to be very efficient with your ammo usage to keep it up.

Great, another store that carries iPad 2 but won't ever have any in stock. LOL.
Unfortunately I think 80% of iPad 2 supply is going to scalpers and resellers, the moment Apple stores get them in stock they sell out and craigslist is then flooded with heavily marked up iPads. It's kind of ridiculous.
On a related note, isn't it a bit weird Apple hasn't announced any sales figures yet? They're usually quick to brag when devices hit a million sales in a short amount of time.
They can't come up with a million sales yet because they were not able to produce the units before they launch it. That's why there is short supply on stores and people can't have it ASAP.
It's like apple is "testing the water before they cross the river".
They made the supply low so it will look like it is really on demand. and make the people drooling waiting.
If they will come up with the number, probably it's made up!

I'm just glad they are not trying to run this on the 3G. I can barely keep the phone running as it is. I wish they would come out with a throwback OS for the older phones. Something to stop the constant freezing.
Just a few more months, then maybe an Iphone 5 takes away my pain. :D

very disinterested by this round of the apple macbooks.
I currently have a 2.4 ghz Macbook CE and I have not seen apple add anything to the macbook Pros to sell up and get a new one......yet.
Im more interested in the next macmini as the last one I had was a 1.66 core duo.

so if u have 3 screws, that means it was serviced
my 2 macbook for business came out of the box with 3 screws so would that indicate that they serviced that macbooks before they were shipped to me
No. It has been established already that all the MacBooks have 3 screws. Mine was one of the first to arrive in the UK and It has 3 screws. The pic you just saw is actually from page 6, posted to show how it had 3 screws. This is a photoshop job.

God ****ing damn it.....update keeps failing right in the last few minutes. Of course iTunes won't let me revert to the last firmware that worked, it will only let me try to update and restore. Seriously, what the ****? If it didn't work the last 3 times, what makes you think it'll work now?

People who are only in love with specs don't want to give the ipad its due.
The device works, because it is optimized for itself, i.e. hardware and software specs are integrated really really well.
It has a great price point and stressing over camera quality is ridiculous, as it is not a camera! Will it be better, yes in the next generation when availability and prices of 8 MP or more fit into what Apple wants to pay for it.
People also don't want to recognize that an ipad is not a laptop. We are IMO about 50% there, but until reliable voice recognition technology replaces a real keyboard, we have to wait.
I always have to laugh when I read about the next ipad killer.
The last ipad killer was actually the ipad2, and that with such a weakly underpowered camera in it.
So very well said, and what a great last line!
On another note its not like people are not buying up the stock of original iPads...I can not wait to see Apples quarterly earnings!

Apple will continue to sell the iPod classic as long as they are making money on them. I would probably buy one on clearance if they discontinued it and dropped the price. I love having ALL my music in one place without having to choose what to sync.
