i like Apple because they stick to their guns. The guys that work there must be really smart so if they think that Flash is detrimental to the computer experience they want to offer, I trust them. They might be abusing their power, but, hey, it's all for bettering the future of computing.

...So it looks like the forthcoming Mac Pro's will have the same form factor as the previous Power Mac G5. Can't say that I'm against that decision - but I was secretly hoping for a new look. My Rev A Power Mac Dual 2Ghz is still doing just fine under my desk. In fact, it's gonna take something pretty crazy to get me to pull out the credit card for a new box. Nothing's got me that excited yet

Just buy the CDs. Better quality, you have a physical CD, and as an example, you can get the blue album for 5 from high street stores (8.99 on Amazon who always seem to be expensive for music and DVDs these days), on iTunes it is 17.99.

Owned? Aside from some random dislike of the "term",
I worry about youth today.
Off topic here, but I have to say that I agree with you here. That owned or pwned terminology bugs me.
On topic, the story is good and I had to email it to a few friends of mine.

Toys R Us? Seriously? What a bizzarre place to buy a tablet PC. I guess we'll be seeing them with the Fisher Price laptops.
Yep, get the kiddies hooked on iDevices early. Apple everything, paint their rooms white and let the mind control begin :)

hmm... but shouldn't they wait until 802.11n becomes more than just a draft of a format?
Other products, including a few from Apple, are using draft-n hardware already.
Maybe they won't be 100% compliant, but unless something earth shattering happens before 802.11n is finalized, I'd expect that many draft-n products could be made compatible with equipment using the the final standard, with little more than a firmware change.
And wasn't 802.11g still in the draft stage when it was introduced in the AirPort Extreme? (Extreme was introduced on January 7, but 802.11g was not ratified until June 2003.)

I'll call BS on that.
Apple does not design their own batteries. The casing perhaps, but not the core.
They spec them to a vendor. Then vendor does the actual design work.
Pretty cool video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFj9vbYedwc&feature=player_embedded#at=13) showing the design and manufacturing of the 17" MacBook Pro battery.

If this rumor is true, I'm certainly glad I got my iPad 2. No way in hell do I want a 3d handheld device. I can handle 3d on big screens far ahead of me, but handheld machines just give me headaches. 3D tech is a whole bag of hurt... Especially in the eye and temples.

I like the Beatles, though I seldom listen to their music. Lots of better and more recent stuff to listen to as far as I'm concerned. But there are lots and lots of people that will buy mp3's of all their music as soon as it is available legally from a download service.
They've just changed the single chart rules in the UK, so that all downloads sales count - previously the song had to be available on cd single as well for it to count. The general consensus is that when the Beatles are available for download they will easily occupy all of the top 10 single positions.
Again, not my cup of tea but I think it sums up just how big it will be once someone does license their catalog.
I was waiting for the 'we've licensed the Beatles' announcement after he'd played some of their songs as well. Though thinking about it, that would be done at a separate announcement, when Apple need some easy pr.

That's funny.
I would've returned the wife before the iPad. Those are easier to find.
no kidding, I didn't have to wait in a line for 13 hours to get the chance to buy a wife, just for her dad to tell me sorry she's sold out and to try again tomorrow.

Yesterday, Microsoft inadvertently released the pricing of its upcoming OS called Vista on their Canadian website. The prices were picked up by the NeoWin blog (http://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=34770) and are also neatly layed out at Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_vista#Editions).
Vista Home Premium will retail for $239, with upgrades available for $159. Additional licenses will be available for discounts as well. Vista Home Premium edition has evolved from XP Professional, Media Center, and Tablet product lines, and probably is also the edition which can most closely be compared to Mac OS X.
Many comparisons have been made between Vista and Mac OS X, and with many expecting Apple to continue its pricing tradition of $129 for Leopard (Mac OS 10.5), further comparisons can be made on price as well.
All prices in USD

No-glasses 3D on a screen that large could be very impressive. Would be a strong reason to get movies just for the iPad. Of course, only one person can look at it at a time and you'd have to be in the sweet spot.
I'd rather have retina display if a choice had to be made.
I'd also imagine it in the iPhone/Touch first, anyway, with 3D pictures and video. Could be a strong selling point.
The point about smudges on a touch screen is valid. Also, your hand interupting the plane would be distracting, but that could be handled by keeping most of the 3D going into the screen, not coming out (like most 3DS games).
P.S. If you can't see the 3D on a Nintendo 3DS with the slider turned on, you were either far from the sweet spot and didn't try to look at it for more than 1-2 seconds, or you simply can't see 3-dimensions in everyday life either. There are some who can't. I find the effect to be very cool, I just don't enjoy playing with cramped hands on tiny buttons with an unforgiving viewing angle and low resolution screens... painful too because I LOVE the Nintendo franchises -- wait what forum is this?

That's not a poster, it's a big iPhone. They've got one in every store window. Different images scroll from bottom to top. Obviously this photo is in mid scroll.
BTW - All the iphones in iPhone commercials are very different than my iPhone. They show a small little photo of the person calling instead of a big full screen photo. Don't know why. It's the same in this ad.
ahhh..Gotcha..Duh.

I'm sure you can do a clean install on the same disk from 2000 to vista (since 2000 was release a bit before 10.1, I't would be fair to not even bother bringing win98 in the scene or we'll have to drag OS 8.5 in the talks) :)
You can easily upgrade OS X from 10.1 straight to 10.5 (atleast 10.4), and if you can't, do a clean install because it's a same damn disk. Can you upgrade Win98 to Vista?
People said the same thing about XP, but all it did was to take 2000/NT code back then, add few drivers and paint it ugly blue.

I sometimes wonder what the world would be like today if over the last 30 years we had spent 80% of our military budget on actually productive *****.10% would be a good start.
