And yes, STUPID idea. If I want 3D I'll walk to my bathroom and go take a p*ss. I want 2D for my computing needs.

When did we stop doing sane things in this country?
Wait a second, I was able to easily invest heavily in the future and still fix the budget problems, all while only cutting the military spending by around 25%. I had enough of a surplus, that I could have gone back and cut even less if needed, but would prefer to invest in US infrastructure and manufacturing capacity. Which, coincidentally, would be more important should the military need to rapidly grow than a few fancy trinkets (F22s, helicopters, etc...)

We'll have to see how this looks when Apple posts more official info about it, but I'm inclined to think I will invest the $300 and give it a try...

ok thanks would you say wifi is the best or att&t wifi ??
Personally, I only get the wifi versions. I have no need for 3G data as I have wifi at home and watch movies, etc while in transit. There is wifi almost everywhere. Also, the data plans are pricey for what you get and the service is not up to par.

The trade off is performance.
Certainly a lot of applications for the iphone could be moved to a web front end, however the applications would be far less sophisticated and would run much slower.
The choice of letting everyone run wild and do whatever the hell they want with the phones is a bad choice. Just look at all the wankers down in Australia who were too lazy to change ssh passwords on their phones and got pwnd by a worm.
If you want to do whatever the heck you want then run a jailbroken phone and take all of the risks.
I do think that Apple needs to work harder on App approval, and I believe the best thing for them to do is have a gold certification level for developers who are trusted. Those developers would be allowed to make as many changes to their applications as they wanted without any interference or approval from apple.
No one is saying that they want to do whatever the heck they want. The developers are saying they want to distribute their applications themselves without Apple having to Approve them. Sure, you can distribute applications on the store. It's a great thing. But you should ALSO have the choice to download an application from the internet from a companies website.
The "wankers down in Australia" are running jailbroken phones and clearly didn't read the farking directions. You do that, serves you right to have your phone infected with a worm.
But no one is saying everyone should have complete control over the phone. They're saying they want to distribute the applications themselves if they so choose to.
Palm and Android both allow this if I recall.

Was able to score a virtually unused M8 a few weeks ago . Tried it out in Midtown and Central Park . Gotta get used to using a rangefinder again .

Cue iTunes promo with "Come Together" as the soundtrack! (Or maybe "The Long and Winding Road")
Oh there are soooo many good songs for the promo's:
Ticket to Ride
We can work it out
I want to hold your hand
Let it be
Please please me
You've got to hide your love away
Revolution **** My guess for an early promo!
You never give me your money
Don't pass me by
BRING IT!!! :D

I'm pretty sure that Flash wouldn't even work on an iPhone. It uses 100% CPU on my MBP and video still lags!
This is probably the reason that Apple doesn't even want to let Adobe make Flash, because they know they would fsck it up somehow.
And, since iPhones overheat, CPU usage at 100% for any length of time could cause the battery to explode!

I like how this film has an old look to it, it happened when I thought I had rewound the film and opened the back.

All the enemies drop weapons and ammo when killed, and as said, there are plenty of caches around. One just has to be quick switching from weapon to weapon. It would be nice if enemies ran out of ammo though....
Yea, the enemies drop plenty of weapons.... if you want crappy Plasma Pistols and Needlers. You have to totally scrounge to find anything headshot-capable. The Pistol and DMR are great, as is the Needle Rifle, but they are just far to rare. One thing that is nice about the enemies dropping plenty of Plasma Pistols; you can work the "Noob Combo" on the Elites and Brutes like crazy. Works like a charm. That is, if you have a headshot weapon, which you probably won't :p

Screw Wal-mart! They should shrivel up and die. I grew up in the epicenter of Wal-Mart's birthplace and it is nothing more than a plague on small-town (and larger city) life.
I don't quite have this same level of hatred for them, but I have a few things to say about them.
They are the Sears of our time. Back when I grew up in the 70's, Sears was still a big deal and manufacturers bent over for them, and everybody looked forward to getting the new Sears catalog, it was a big deal. They had the balls to rebadge the Atari and Intellivision consoles of the day just to stroke their own ego, and Atari and Mattel eagerly complied. Their "Craftsman" brand? They rebadge other people's products.
Do you realize how much power the Wal-Marts and K-Marts of the world have? Do you realize that music labels have to press alternate, family friendly versions of their albums for Wal-Mart and the normal version for everybody else? Some products are kept off the market entirely if they can't get shelf space at Wal-Mart. I went through this experience personally around 10 years ago with an edutainment software title I worked on.
At the end of the day, they will fail and crumble just like Sears did, because they become rigid and arrogant and will no longer "get it".
Now, Wal-Mart should feel threatened by iTunes selling movies. So should Blockbuster, DVD Empire, heck the entire physical media industry and foodchain should be worried. But the movie studios love it no matter what they say in public, because it opens the door for more oppressive DRM, which is what they wanted all along -- the ability to control your media and charge you every time you watch it.

...finally...
Apple has dropped the ball here. Now that most laptops ship with the same chips, Apple can't claim the "Mhz Myth" or anything like that. They will have to keep up to speed, no pun intended.
The other company's comparable machines to the MacBook Pro have C2D processors. The ones that compete against the MacBook don't for the most part. Apple didn't drop the ball.

1. This is kind of scary - it's like Apple is saying whatever you decide you WILL get our products.
2. Also, wife may have been pissed.
3. Is true?
But I like the headline!

Again, the military is inextricable from the economy. Not only are large sectors heavily dependent on military spending (like the town of 150,000 just west of me, that would utterly collapse if its two bases were closed), but a weaker military would risk tremendous losses in international commerce as foreign nations take back control of their own markets and resources absent the pressure of potential American military action.
So we must continue our imperial ways simply because of economic reasons?

It's really amazing to see here people justifying the price of Windows Vista, when not even corporations think about migrating to the "new" OS in 2-years time...Vista is just a rehashed NT, and no company will need it in the short term.
Corporations have many more factors to consider prior to updating than the general consumer. Price is only one of the many factors. In many cases the sticker price of the OS itself is the least restrictive factor when considering upgrading for a corporation.

Hey everyone, I'd just thought you'd like to know that I'm loaded too. I have 901 shares of Apple....and I would have lost close to $18000 last week when the stock dropped, but fortunately it's only 5% of my portfolio. That and some prescient shorting mitigated my downside risk. So yeah, how about that new MacPro?
LOL. Ouch. Play nice, children.
At any rate, this would ideally be the introduction of some sort of "always-on" wireless spectrum that Apple products (and ONLY Apple products) could use. A Macbook or iTablet that was always online would be revolutionary. However, it would be about the same (concept-wise, not in terms of actual speed) as being able to tether our iPhones to our Macbooks or MBP's via Bluetooth.
I'm a bit skeptical with that, though.
Realistically, I'm thinking improved iTunes Wireless store (more content, more devices included?) with a much improved Apple TV, either on the software/firmware or hardware level.
Probably also other things with something to do with the theme. Thinner MBP or Macbook, etc. We'll see. :p

Id also like to add that I increased spending on veterans, so you can save the "you don't support the troops" crap, I dont want to hear it.
The funny thing is that our current war spending doesn't put anything aside or even factor in the serious cash we're gonna have to drop on veteran benefits down the road. Thats a huge unaccounted for money pit, that MUST be paid for.
